About the Awards
The Nova Scotia Psychologically Healthy Workplace Program is an initiative of the American Psychological Association (APA) and highlights the policies, practices, and programs of workplaces, large and small, for-profit and not-for-profit. Its aim is to promote employee health while enhancing productivity and sustainability in Nova Scotia organizations. The program is supported by the CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety at Saint Mary’s University and the Association of Psychologists in Nova Scotia (APNS).
Application Process
All organizations receive comprehensive feedback based on the assessments.

Why apply?
The award provides companies and organizations, of all sizes, an opportunity to highlight their efforts to promote psychological health in the workplace. Many people in your organization work hard to foster a healthy work environment and offering them a chance to showcase their efforts is important.
The process of applying provides an opportunity for your organization to identify, document and celebrate your psychologically healthy practices and accomplishments.
Winners will be honoured at an awards event to which the media and business community will be invited. This accomplishment can be publicized in internal and external corporate communications. The award contributes to your organizations ability to attract new employees.
Nova Scotia’s Psychologically Healthy Workplace Conference
The Psychologically Healthy Workplace Conference offers expert speakers and progressive information regarding creating a psychologically healthy workplace. The conference is designed to educate organizations striving to implement a psychologically healthy workplace.
Past presenters have included expert researchers in the area of healthy workplaces, past Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award winners, and members of the business community.

Phase
01
Phase 1 - Registration
Registration involves completing a short on-line registration
form about:
-
your organizational information;
-
the programs that you offer; and
-
why you should be considered for this award.

02
Phase 2 - Organizational and Employee Surveys
You will have the opportunity to provide more detail information about your initiatives and how you address aspects of a healthy workplace in the organizational survey. Employees also have the opportunity to complete a short on-line survey about the organization and their own health and well-being.

Phase 3: Site Visit
In this phase, you have the opportunity to show off all of the aspects of your healthy workplace. We get a chance to talk to you and see your organizational work environment.
